Chin Surgery

Cosmetic chin surgery is sought after to bring balance to the face by adjusting the shape, size and projection of the chin. The two main types of chin surgery are augmentation and reduction.

Chin augmentation is typically performed with the insertion of a silicone implant. If the desired correction is more significant, an osteotomy (modification of the chin bone) may be performed. Often augmentation of the chin can minimize the appearance of the nose, and is often performed in conjunction with nose surgery. Sometimes chin augmentation can even be achieved with an injectable filler, such as Juvederm.

Chin reduction surgery, or chin shaving surgery, is performed to reduce the length, width or overall size of the chin by removing excess bone to contour the chin to the desired shape. The goal of this procedure is to improve the chin's proportions to align harmoniously with the rest of the facial features.
